LATEST ANDROID UPDATE (ITCH ONLY FOR NOW) / WHAT'S NEW?

  1. Drum patterns now dynamically update based on the current pattern when the mixer or sampler is in view.
  2. Adjusted synth presets now save and load with the project file (remember to hit SAVE when necessary or frequently).
  3. Added a Synth volume slider to OSC 1 for additional boost to the synth signal, separate from the Synth fader.
  4. Added 'night modes'—press the kmusic header to toggle between them (8 modes total).
  5. Clear button clears only the visible pattern on the board instead of all patterns.
  6. Synth 'nudge' applied when loading presets or projects to ensure patch is played correctly.
  7. Exports to MIDI when saving as 'your-project-name.json.midi' tAndroid/data/com.Zillatronics.kmusic/files/
MIDI file will update along with project as you save and will hold three tracks if all are used. Computer must be used to access them.
  8. Suitable for Galaxy Flip 4-6.
  9. Samples can now be loaded from the Music folder on Android.
  10. Pitch shift slider added to Sampler Panel (remember to save) and cycle to panel to initialize.
  11. Fixed bug when using Sampler pads 1-16. They don't remove if there is a mismatch.

More improvements are on the way! Updates can be downloaded here and installed over your current Android installation. Updates for Google Play and The App Store will roll out once finalized for both platforms.

ABOUT THE APP Start sequencing and explore fun, creative ways to build musical patterns, exercise your musical skills, and experiment with music production in a casual, intuitive way!

Features:

  • Drums
  • Synth
  • Mixer
  • Sampler
  • Pattern linking
  • Project saves

Requirements:

  • Android API Level 29-34 (Android 10-14)
  • Note: This is not a professional tool—it’s designed more as a fun toy for musical exercises.

HOW TO USE:

  1. Create a Project: Press 'N' to start a new project. Enter a name in the input field and press 'GO'. Your project name will appear at the top. You MUST create a project in order to SAVE.
  2. Saving: Make sure you’ve created a project before saving progress.
  3. Step Sequencer: Patterns play from the bottom row to the top row.
  4. Pattern Duplication: Create a pattern, then press '+' to duplicate it. Hit play to sequence both patterns. The indicator will update (e.g., '1/2' to '2/2').
  5. Editing Patterns: Stop the sequencer on the pattern you want to edit. For example, to edit pattern 2, wait for the indicator to display '2/2'.
  6. Clearing a Pattern: Press 'C' to clear the entire pattern, including drums, synths, and samples.
  7. Deleting a Pattern: Press '-' to delete the current pattern.
  8. Loading Projects: Stop the sequencer and press 'L' to load a project. Projects load alphabetically.
  9. Component Buttons: When components like sample pads or key pads are on-screen, the cells display the current pattern for that group. The component button is the white button to the right of the patch name.
  10. Uninstalling the app will also remove the project and midi files.

SAMPLING GUIDE

For Android:

  1. Locate the Music folder on your Android device.
  2. Copy the Files to Music folder (sub folders work too).
  3. All audio files MP3 or WAV will be available to sample.
  4. Open the Sampler, press the large Chop button on beat as the song plays to create sample chops. You must chop 16 in total for it to work. Experiment with extended the beat length of your chops.
  5. Use sample pads (1-16) to play and place samples onto cells.
  6. Trim or extend samples with the arrow buttons below.

Note: Removing samples will manipulate your project because timestamps are saved based on the index of the sample and filename, not the actual audio clip. If you're in a situation where a song becomes missing try finding a copy with the same filename and putting it back in the 'Music' folder.

For iOS:

  1. Follow the same steps as above to create the 'AudioFiles' folder and add MP3 or WAV files.
  2. Copy the 'AudioFiles' folder to the kmusic folder on your phone.
  3. Uninstalling will also remove sample on iOS.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

  • All notes are sixteenths.
  • Updates are available here for manual download and installation.
  • Always save your progress regularly!
